The following visualization gives an overview of the mental health situation in Canada. It talks about three different aspects; Suicide rate among different age groups and between the two genders, the types of mental illnesses that prevail and their percentage amongst the population and lastly the stigma related to mental health. These three points of information are linked together and must be addressed in relation to each other to create awareness about the topic.

The data collected was converted into average numbers and divided by the number of years for the most accuracy and to make it easy for the viewers to understand. It is also important to use the most appropriate way to display the information. This data visualization required a comparison between different segments for which reason I used pie charts to display the information.

The visualization is intended for organizations that intend to fight mental illness and create awareness amongst the Canadian population. It is also intended for the general population for awareness purpose.

The visualization uses encoding methods like color, size and interactive features such as hover over, hover out and mouse click. 

The data was derived from CMHA for the most updated and authentic data.
